Lots of you have been asking useful questions about my new (experimental!) method of charging for Sunday workshops. We are still very much in phase 1 of the trial, so thank you for your comments & suggestions.
This method is inspired by the excellent ‘Pay What you Feel’ Community Cafes run by Food in Community, Totnes (highly recommended!) and a couple of wonderful students who have paid in this way for evening classes for years now. It takes into account that we are all earning very different sorts of incomes, many are in part time or unpaid work, others are moving away from using money as a form of exchange (as much as possible).
I believe that yoga should be available to anyone: no-one should be excluded for financial reasons. And yet living in the world as we do, I have to balance this belief with the need to cover my rent. And so I am asking everyone to think about what they are able to give (monetary or otherwise) in return for the training, planning, preparation & good quality ingredients that I use for each event.
Each workshop will have a ‘guide price’ listed: this is what someone in full time employment might pay. Please pay this if you can. But if this feels out of reach for you, no problem: adjust accordingly. Likewise if you feel moved (before or after the session) to contribute more, to support me on my teaching path & allow me to offer low cost places to those who need them, then please do!
Also if you have useful skills or would like to offer a non-cash alternative form of payment, please get in touch! I love this way of living: the new/old alternative economy.
Thanks as always for your ongoing support xx Please keep the comments & suggestions coming! I’m hoping the experiment will be ‘successful’ It will be interesting at the very least….
